PRINCIPAL’S ANNUAL REPORT - 2017-18

Esteemed Chief Guest Upendra Behera, IAS, Chairman OERC, Respected Prof. Debapriya Dash, Chief Speaker, Respected Sri Saroj Bal, Guest of Honour, Respected Chairman Dr. Dev Mohanty, Vice Chairman cum Managing Trustee Madam Harapriya Mohanty, Secretary Prof Pramod Mishra, Well wishers, teaching and non-teaching staff and dear children.

A warm welcome to everyone.

As we approach to the end of this academic year and we remember our 4 years’ of service towards providing quality education since the inception of school in 2014.We take this opportunity to thank the Almighty Lord Lakshminarayan for his abundant blessings and to our founding father Dr. Dev Mohanty, for his constant support guidance, members of School managing Committee, parents, members of print & electronics media, students teachers and well wishers.

There is a great saying that I quote, Real education fetches you more than a job. It teaches you to live. It cannot be measured in any tangible way.

As we share the yearly updates of our activity, we take the modesty to say that we did our best to do as we planned and we are proud of our students and teachers who strived hard to achieve beyond expectations. We have focused on the holistic development of the students. To avoid lengthy presentation, the report will be a nutshell of all.

“Bhoomi ku aame kari parichhu debabhoomi, sishunku debasishu
Gyano ku bigyano karichhu aame”

CBSE AFFILIATION: In response to our application & consequent visit of CBSE officials our school got affiliation up-to secondary level . Eminent principals from different Kendriya Vidyalaya, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalay , D.A.V Public Schools visited our school in the session 2017-18 & expressed grater satisfaction in quality & standard of education in this school, situated in a rural area.

Academic Excellence: Dr. Dev Mohanty Public School is known for scholastic & co-scholastic Excellence. Every session since 2014-15, two projects in science qualify to National Children’s Science Congress & bring laurels to the school. Master Sarada Prasad Mohanty visited Karnataka with Mrs Shikha Sarita Jena, Science Teacher were awarded for representing National Children Science Congress from our state Odisha in a ceremonious function at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack on 26th January.

Miss Sanjana Saha & Master Sarada Prasad Mohanty also qualified in the scholarship examination of Braja Gouri Trust & have been getting scholarship. Master Sarada is also getting Pathani Samanta Merit Scholarship.

I am happy to intimate all of you here that Miss Rupali Mishra qualified to receive national girl child merit scholarship, organized by Science Olympiad foundation, New Delhi. Chairman Dr Dev Mohanty handed over cheque of Rs 5000/- to Miss Rupali in school’s prize giving ceremony.

Our children have been doing very well in different state, national & International Olympiad examinations. In English International Olympiad examination 38 students of our school received Gold Medals, 6 students received silver medals & 08 received students bronze medals.

In General Knowledge Olympiad 27 students received Gold medals, 10 silver medals & 04 bronze medals. In mathematics Olympiad, 39 students of our school received gold medals, 18 silver medals & 10 bronze medals. In Science Olympiad, 44 students received Gold medals, 06 silver medals & 05 bronze medals.

Master Sahil Sarangi qualified in the 2nd level math Olympiad and got 21st position in International level and got the award of Excellency in zonal level for the year 2018.

The Prize giving or Award Day: We organized prize giving or award giving ceremonies in school. Our founding father Dr Dev Mohanty & Managing Trustee Madam Harapriya Mohanty gave away the certificates, medals, prizes & awards.

Staff: Our school family comprises of 119 teaching & non- teaching staff. 37 well trained well experienced, dedicated teaching staff and supporting staff including Clerical Staff, Security Personnel, Bus Drivers and assistants.

We duly appreciate the tremendous co-operation on the part of everyone associated with this institution who have strived their best to mould our students to work hard to make their dreams and aspiration come true. Apart from the various core subject teachers, we have an enthusiastic team of teachers for physical Education, Yoga, Music & Dance.

Staff Enrichment Program: Staying updated is the key to success in any field, especially in the field of education. Our teachers constantly strive to stay updated, by attending workshops and various training programs.

A week long workshop-cum seminar for the teachers is being organized every year in the first week of June in which many experts & educationists from different parts of state & country join & train our teachers. Our teachers also present their papers in different teaching subject, content & keep an open for discussion. Besides, a seminar on personality development and life skills was organized & seminar on effective communication and personality development was also organized. We also organized internal workshop for primary teachers which covered various teaching methods, workshops for language teachers and subject wise were held enlightening the innovative methods of classroom teachings.

Student Enrichment Program: To ensure that our students are equipped to face any challenge, we have focused on few student enrichment programs. Our morning assembly is the mirror of our activities which may be treated as first model class of the day. We have divided entire week on different activities & languages. Monday & Tuesday we conduct assembly in English, Wednesday & Thursday in Hindi, Friday in Sanskrit & Saturday in different Indian languages including Odia.

Besides, regular morning thought, news, quiz, talk, recitation, storytelling in assembly, we invite different guest speakers to speak on different important days & to make awareness among students & teachers.

We take our students for picnic & excursion every year to different important places in December.

P.T.M. Activities: PTM or parents teachers meetings are organized after every assessment. Parents come to school regularly & take the report of their children in different subject. They discuss in details with teachers & principal if they have any problem with their children.

Now, let us have a brief glimpse of the important functions that marked the school calendar this year.

  • Odisha Day: We celebrate 1st April in school as Odisha Day. A speech competition was organized among students in which students discussed the glory & heritage of Odisha. We remembered the sacrifice of Fakirmohan Senapati , Gangadhar Meher , Madhusudan Das, Radhanath Roy , Gopabandhu Das etc in saving our Odia language, literature & identity as separate state.

  • World Book Day and Reading Week: We celebrated world book day on 23rd April & continued it for a week as reading week. Reading habit & writing skill are very important factor for making a child to a student. We give importance to it.

  • School parliament and club: School witnessed selection for the school parliament and cottage group captains / vice captains with a touch of authentic selection process. We have five cottages viz-Care, Citizenship, Friendship, Love & Mother India cottages. Children file nominations to be the captains & vice captains & face interview board headed by Principal. We select head boy & head girl of the school also in this process of leadership training. Selected students take oath in a ceremonious oath-taking ceremony. Besides, we inaugurate different clubs in the month of June & July. They are like environment Club, Volunteer Club, Social Science Club, Social Service Club, Music & Dance Club, Language Club, Health & Cleanliness Club & Help Club etc. We nominate different members from students to these clubs under the chairmanship of teachers.

  • Important Days of celebrations: We celebrated Independence Day, Children‘s Day, Gandhi Jayanti, X-mas & Republic Day in very meaningful way. Exhibition of Art & craft were organized displaying the great sacrifices of our freedom fighters. Different programs were organized in children’s day in which parents & grandparents were invited. We celebrated teacher’s day by honouring retired headmasters, Principals & teachers of the locality. Their presence in school campus & sharing their valuable life & experience was very motivational. Christmas is the spirit of giving without the thought of getting and spreading the emotion of love. Jesus Christ is the reason for this season as we commemorate the day as His birthday. Student Santacruiz conveyed the message of love , caring and sharing to students , parents & other people in locality.

Co-Curricular Activities: By providing a conducive and encouraging environment the students are mentored to participate in a variety of intra and interschool activities / competitions in which they won different competitions & brought laurels for the school. Samikhya Samadarshini , Shriya Suva Swapna Swain , S Priyadarshini won number of Inter-School dance competitions. Miss Rupali Mishra got national Merit scholarship of meritorious girl child organized by Science Olympiad Foundation. Maruf Ali , Prabhudutta Behera represented Cuttack district athletic at Barabati Stadium. Shyam Sundar represented Cuttack Football team. Besides, our students won number of district level sports competitions.

Science & Art Exhibition: The students had an opportunity to exhibit their academic talents. The students exhibited their outstanding talents through various experiments, models, projects, craft works etc. The parents & guest appreciated all the efforts and hard work put forth by the students under their teacher’s guidance.

Sports Day: Annual sports meet was inaugurated by Chairman Dr Dev Mohanty on 1st December, 2017 followed by outstanding performance by the students in various events. International Scuba Diver Sabir Bux was the chief Guest on the closing day of Annual Sports on 2nd December, 2017. Besides, Shree Kali Dutta , Retired IAS & Mr Arif Khan , Secy Human rights were also present with their wife in the closing day of annual sports & distributed medals, Trophy & Prizes . Mrs Harapriya Mohanty, Managing Trustee was also present in both the days of our Annual Sports.

Social Awareness: Social Awareness activities involves students to recognize others feelings and knowing how and when to assist others. Students learn to show respect for others and understand responsibilities. Teachers & experts on different areas were invited to encourage & create awareness among students in different important days in school.

Value Education: To build up the future citizens with social values, we insist value education i.e. moral science and catechism classes. Every day in morning assembly principal, teachers & students present different stories on moral values.

Infra Structure: I am very happy to in from you all that we have very sound & sufficient infrastructure which may accommodate more than 1500 students & the school may run up to senior secondary level. We have all smart classes with total technology support.

Conclusion: Before concluding this reports , I humbly say-

“Aasma me tare kitne, yeh mujhe nehi dekhna
Jamin par taro ko aasma ke sapne dikhana he,
Dhrub aur parsuram banker, raja ka dhwaja nehi udana
Lekin karan ko kundal, kabach, eklavya ko aangutha yapas dena he.
Jeewan jitna hi pal ka ho , sirf bachho ke liye yaha jina he”
